The students of this graduating class faced an extraordinary journey, as their entire studies since September 2022 took place under martial law. Despite all the challenges, they received a high-quality education and successfully defended their bachelor’s theses.

This event carries special significance within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Notwithstanding global and national challenges, the University managed to maintain high educational standards, ensure the continuity of the learning process, and train specialists ready to meet modern challenges (SDG 4: Quality Education).

Graduates of the Department of Applied Mathematics gained not only fundamental knowledge but also essential skills needed to build successful careers in IT, science, and analytics. This makes them active contributors to societal development and economic growth (SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth).

Every Bachelor’s diploma represents another step toward a future where the knowledge, intellect, and resilience of youth serve as the foundation for Ukraine’s sustainable development.

The Department of Applied Mathematics at Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics is immensely proud of its graduates and wishes them inspiration, peaceful skies, and new professional achievements!

Anastasiia is already building her professional career path while working at the “Gas Transit Research Institute” branch of JSC Ukrtransgaz.

In the Metrology Department, she applies the fundamental knowledge gained at the Department of Applied Mathematics to solve real operational tasks. In her daily practice, she relies on tools from mathematics, statistics, and Machine Learning.

Thanks to a flexible schedule provided by both the university and the company, Anastasiia successfully manages her work responsibilities alongside classes, exams, and professional self-development. Experienced mentor Viktor Lutsenko and her team of colleagues at Ukrtransgaz help her master the nuances of the profession.

“Even before receiving a diploma, students get acquainted with their profession in practice, learn from experienced specialists, and understand which direction they want to develop” Ukrtransgaz noted.

The defenses were held for two of the department’s specialties:

• July 15 — 113 Applied Mathematics
• July 16 — 124 Systems Analysis

The examination board noted that all works were executed at a high scientific and technical level, and the graduates demonstrated profound knowledge and the ability to apply complex mathematical apparatus to solve real-world problems.

This year, the students’ research covered the following leading scientific fields:

• Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
• Mathematical modeling of complex processes
• Data analysis and time series forecasting
• Systems analysis and IT management
• Optimization methods and navigation
• Applied geometry

All graduates successfully defended their works, confirming their high qualifications and readiness for the challenges of the modern IT industry and analytics.

The event brought together educators to discuss the transformation of the educational environment, the upcoming ESG 2027 European standards, the culture of academic integrity, and the practical application of updated criteria for evaluating educational programs. The seminar also featured a meeting with the “Information Technologies” sectoral expert council.

Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics was represented at the event by members of the Department of Applied Mathematics:

Participation in such events allows NURE to actively develop its internal quality assurance system and implement the most modern European approaches into the university’s educational activities.

The activities implemented Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education, by providing free access to high-quality mathematical training, particularly for school students from diverse social and educational backgrounds, creating an inclusive space for learning, self-realization, and development. This not only contributed to improving the participants’ academic results and mitigating learning losses but also gave them additional motivation to pursue higher education in the future.

The awards were presented for their significant contribution to the development of education and science in the city of Kharkiv on the occasions of the 95th anniversary of the university’s founding and the professional holiday — Science Day.

These honors confirm the high level of qualification of the Department of Applied Mathematics teaching staff, their dedication to the development of Ukrainian higher education, and their invaluable contribution to training new generations of specialists, even during the most challenging times.

Vladyslav Gennadiiovych Parkhomenko, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Applied Mathematics at NURE, took part in the forum as a member of the Council of Young Scientists.

During the event, Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov emphasized that preserving universities and youth is a strategic issue for the city’s future and proposed three concrete steps:

• prioritizing companies that invest in local science and university developments within municipal procurement;
• establishing innovative spaces based within universities;
• creating a Municipal Fund for the Support of Youth Science to provide grants for students and postgraduate researchers.

Special attention was paid to applicants from frontline territories. Taking exams under constant shelling is an incredibly difficult reality, which is why the state and communities must fight for every future student.

“If we lose our youth, universities, and scientific schools, there will be no one left to build the future,” emphasized Ihor Terekhov.

The participation of representatives from the Department of AM in the forum confirms that NURE is actively involved in shaping the development strategy for frontline education. Despite all the challenges, the university’s young scientists continue to hold the scientific front for the future of Ukraine.
